The growing season is well begun!

Vines are dehilled and pruned and we are now working on tidying up the crowns so we can mechanically control weeds more easily this year. Mike believes we are probably about a week ahead of schedule right now, although as he likes to remind me of the fact that can change in a week.

The wines in the cellar continue to develop beautifully. It seems the Riesling we produced from Gracefield may be the first wine we release in the Grange line - hopefully sometime this summer. It is beautiful, minerally and structured with a terrific lime finish.

We released the Trumpour’s Mill 2006 Pinot Noir last month and it has been extremely well received as was our 5th vintage of Rosé. We also bottled our first unoaked Chardonnay since 2004, which we will release this Saturday at our first ever wine club event. The ever popular Cabernet Merlot is back, scheduled for release on Father’s Day. We’re hoping to bottle the 2007 Pinot Gris this month as well as the Grange Riesling.

Quinton, my youngest child, came up with an interesting idea last week; he’s going to offer kids activities this summer in the afternoon as well as providing a kid’s tour on holiday weekends. It seems this farm keeps everyone around here busy.

Please drop by and try out our new luncheon menu. It is very seasonal and rustic and right now we have a lot of asparagus on the menu. Dad says he’s sick of it already, but I think there’s at least one week left.

Soon there will be fresh peas and strawberries. I know we are planning a country chicken stew with fresh peas and Trumpour's Mill Rosé marinated strawberry shortcake with fresh whipped cream.

I hope everyone gets a chance to get outside and enjoy spring. See you soon!

Caroline
